Baby Closet – Things You Need to Consider

Posted on: April 14, 2010

Keeping a baby’s closet clean and organized can be really fun. It’s totally an overwhelming and touching experience going through all those tiny details in organizing your little ones closet. The only problem is that, most ready made closets are designed for adults only since they don’t have drawers, shelves, bars and baskets to organize all the things that babies need.

Most parents use infant’s closet not only for clothes but also for other baby stuff including baby toys, feeding and medical supplies, and other baby accessories. The number of baby necessities can really grow overwhelming and they may irritate your eyes if you don’t keep them well organized. This is the reason why it is always good to get a baby closet with several divisions and it should be big enough to accommodate all the stuff that your little one needs. Remember, it’s not enough that you  keep on piling all those things as it can drive you insane sooner or later. You should organize it neatly so that you can easily find the things that you are looking for.

If you’re planning to buy a closet for your baby, find something that is out of your baby’s reach, yet it should be convenient on your part. Many parents usechanging tables to organize baby stuff. Yes, it does have a lot of storage but babies can easily reach it. Hence, it is not a good idea to store baby’s necessities in it. Rather, you can choose to store plush toys, blankets and towels. Or simply those that are made with soft materials, except the clothes of course as you don’t want to soil those just in case your little one reaches for it.

When organizing the closet, itwould be easier if you spread out all the things that you want to keep in the closet. This can help you categorize everything from diapers, first aid, body suit, t-shirts, socks, layettes, pajamas and a lot more. This also helps you pile up and keep everything neatly in place. Once you’ve already categorized everything, you can have a better idea on how you would want to organize all those things. On which stuff goes to which division of the closet.

If you’re thinking of hanging some clothes, it’s a good idea to use metal wire shelving as it is versatile and cheap. It’s great for hanging baby or children clothes on the hangers since it has a wire across the front area of every shelf. Infant clothes don’t really need more space to hang down, so you can add an additional division underneath the hanging area for more storage.

Do not be afraid to invest on something which you know can be beneficial and can really last long. Besides, when your baby grows older, you can still use the closet to store their new set of clothes. Just give it a quick make over and there you have it, the closet is now ready to be used by your toddler.
